Flash Flooding in Los Angeles County – 5 Tips to be Prepared
In a scene straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster, multiple cars were stranded near Bob Hope Airport due to flooding.
Heavy rain caused massive flooding at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood. Cars were left unoccupied by drivers who managed to escape the area.
The incident is one of many caused by a storm that has wreaked havoc on Southern California due to rain, wind, and even snow.
You most likely received the alarming alert on your phone about the flash flood warning in effect for many areas of SoCal, including Los Angeles county.
Flash floods are caused by heavy rainfall, and pose a significant hazard for drivers. If you must drive –
- Don’t speed
- Avoid flooded areas when possible.
- Do not text or partake in other driving distractions
- Be prepared. Drive alert.
Most importantly, don’t drive over flooded roads. A foot of water can float your car. If you can’t see the road, turn around.
